VERONICA SWIFT
plus Kjetil Mulelid Trio
Mack Avenue recording artist/vocalist Veronica Swift transcends boundaries, exploring bossa nova, blues, rock, funk, and vaudeville. After her first appearance at Jazz at Lincoln Center at age 11 and winning second place at the Thelonious Monk 2015 Jazz Vocal Competition, she went on to collaborate with jazz icons like Chris Botti (as seen at TD JazzFest 2023), Benny Green, and Wynton Marsalis. Swift’s latest self-titled album marks a new chapter and showcases Swift's prowess in delivering the unexpected. Simply put, Swift is not only one of the most dazzling singers to emerge in her generation; she is also one of the most versatile. Don't miss her extraordinary return to TD JazzFest, and secure your tickets now for an unforgettable performance at McPherson Playhouse!
Opening for this evening will be the Kjetil Mulelid Trio, one of Europe’s premiere piano trios consisting of Norway’s most exciting young jazz musicians. Since their debut album in 2017 (Not Nearly Enough To Buy A House), the Kjetil Mulelid Trio has distinguished itself by touring internationally and releasing two highly-praised follow-up albums titled What You Thought Was Home (2019) and Who Do You Love the Most (2022). With a classic, acoustic piano sound reminiscent of Keith Jarrett and Bill Evans, the trio features pianist Kjetil Mulelid, bassist Rune Nergaard, and drummer Andreas Winther, who effortlessly conjure a diverse musical experience for their audiences.
