"[Postmodern Jukebox’s] Morgan James has it all: soul, charm, chops, blue-chip musicianship, and the kind of absolute individuality that makes her singing as recognizable as a fingerprint.” – The New York Times
10-time GRAMMY award-winning super vocal group Take 6 (Claude McKnight, Mark Kibble, Joel Kibble, Dave Thomas, Alvin Chea and Khristian Dentley) are the model for vocal genius. A musical phenomenon that has garnered ten Dove Awards, a Soul Train Award, and an induction into the Gospel Hall of Fame, these six virtuosic voices harmonize against a backdrop of syncopated rhythms, innovative arrangements, and an intoxicating brew of funk, gospel, jazz, R&B, and pop. They have collaborated with Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Brian Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald, Whitney Houston, and Jacob Collier, and also appeared alongside Celine Dion, Lionel Richie, Justin Timberlake, Stevie Nicks, and Taylor Swift at Walmart’s 50th Anniversary celebration in 2012, Ben E. King at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Awards, and at Paul Simon’s GRAMMY Tribute in 2022. Take 6 has come a long way since forming in 1980 at Huntsville, Alabama’s Oakwood College, with their 2018 release Iconic earning No. 1 atop the Contemporary Jazz Albums Chart. The multi-platinum selling sextet is the pre-eminent and most awarded a cappella group in the world, so don’t miss them at TD JazzFest this summer!
