June 21 – 30, 2024
The VICTORIA JAZZ SOCIETY Announces:
The Victoria Jazz Society is proud to announce the complete line up of artists/bands for the 40th anniversary/41st edition of the TD Victoria International JazzFest. The 2024 festival has an operating budget of $1,300,000 and will create an economic impact of well over $5.5 million to the City of Victoria and beyond. The festival hopes to attract an audience of over 35,000 people to what has become Victoria and Vancouver Island’s longest running multi-day professional music festival.
Everyone is invited to TEN HOT DAYS AND NIGHTS OF THE COOLEST MUSIC IN TOWN, a vibrant celebration of jazz and other diverse genres, happening from Friday, June 21 to Sunday, June 30, 2024. Appealing to folks from all walks of life, TD JazzFest will deliver an exceptional program of 60 stunning performances and four workshop/clinics on 9 stages in downtown Victoria and Esquimalt’s Bullen Park. Jazz is the “sound of surprise,” which will be heard from over 250 musicians in 54 bands from around the world...including Australia, Norway, Sweden, Cuba, Venezuela, as well as artists/bands from throughout the USA and Canada.
Previously announced headliners appearing in the “Marquee Series” at the Royal Theatre and McPherson Playhouse are Booker T’s Stax Revue (Blue Moon Marquee), Ziggy Alberts, Twin Bill: Morgan James & Take 6, and Veronica Swift (Kjetil Mulelid Trio).
The Victoria Jazz Society is pleased to continue its program at two family-friendly, outdoor grassy field venues this year, The Cameron Bandshell at Beacon Hill Park and Bullen Park in Esquimalt. The “Funk & Soul in the Township” series at Bullen Park will feature three high-energy evenings of danceable ticketed performances by Sunny Jain’s Wild Wild East (Avataar), MarchFourth (Tight Hair), and Five Alarm Funk (Grapefruit is Impossible).
In celebration of 40 years of TD JazzFest, the festival welcomes everyone to a “free-to-attend” triple bill birthday bash at Bullen Park on the evening of Thursday, June 27. No tickets required, just good vibes, and featured are three funky collectives to get you dancing all evening in Esquimalt: Busty & The Bass, Blasé Blasé, and Downtown Mischief.
For the “Presentation Series” of TD JazzFest, there will be many award-winning musicians/bands. Ticketed evening performances hosted by Hermann’s Jazz Club, for eight nights of the festival, will feature Marc Atkinson Trio f.
