Mother Mother: ROYAL THEATRE

“Now for our favourite part, playing da music LIVE. We love it all, writing it, making it, adorning it with art, but it’s letting the songs unfurl into the open air with all of you that truly makes this a dream job,” said Ryan Guldemond. “Can’t wait to bring the songs of Dance and Cry to a venue near you.”

The Vancouver-based band’s new album features 12-tracks, all of which were written by lead singer Ryan Guldemond and produced by Guldemond and Ben Kaplan. The songs on Dance and Cry relate back to an organic, stripped down sound that reflects the bands earlier material and share themes of survival, self-reflection, sorrow and happiness. “Get Up” the lead single off the album has been met with much fanfare, impressively rocketing into the top 5 and nabbing the title of #1 most added song at Canada Alternative Rock radio in its first week of release. Check out the music video for the single directed by Connor McGuire and shot in Vancouver HERE.

The Juno and MMVA nominated Vancouver-based band, comprised of Ryan Guldemond, Molly Guldemond, Jasmin Parkin, Ali Siadat and Mike Young, has had a whirlwind decade; garnering six top 10 singles on the alt rock Canadian charts and 41 million streams and counting on digital platforms.

The band’s 2017 album No Culture, produced “The Drugs” a #1 single on the Alt Rock charts in Canada for three consecutive weeks. The alt-rockers first earned critical acclaim with their debut albums Touch Up (2007) and O My Heart (2008). The releases that followed, Eureka (2011) and The Sticks (2012) delivered the top 5 radio hits “The Stand”, “Bit By Bit” and “Let’s Fall In Love”, making the band the second most aired alternative act in Canada in 2012 and 2013. In 2014 they racked up more hits with “Get Out The Way”, “Monkey Tree” and “Modern Love” from their much-lauded record Very Good Bad Thing. The band has also found success on the road, most recent tours include sold-out headline dates across North America, selling out the historic Massey Hall, and a record-breaking five consecutive sold-out shows at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver.

With a career that began humbly at the University of Victoria’s Sub Pub, this band led the live music, independent recording and producing scene in Victoria BC in the 80’s. They become RCA Recording Artists, received rave reviews of live performances along the way and shared stages with Muddy Waters, Joe Cocker, James Cotton, Koko Taylor and Paul Butterfield to name a few, leaving an indelible legacy of 21 recorded tracks that still stand the test of time.

They released a new CD in 2015 called “Still Burnin it Up” and they have just come off a successful Western Tour to Alberta and BC, as well they played two hot sets on the mainstage at the Island Folkfest this past summer as well as blowing folks away at the Vancouver Island Blues Bash on the Labour Day weekend. To top it all off they won the right to represent BC at the International Blues Challenge in White Rock in July 2014 and traveled to Memphis in January of 2015 to compete.

The current line up includes Hank Lionhart, Mark Comerford, Andy Graffiti, Lonnie Glass, Dave Rowse and Wayne Kozak.

With violins, cornetti, sackbuts, theorbos, keyboards and voices, this special Christmas presentation recreates the lavish celebration of Christmas Vespers from the Church of San Marco in 17th-century Venice, with music by the incomparable Claudio Monteverdi!  Featuring works from his 1641 collection of sacred music, the concert will resound with the glorious sounds of a Christmas celebration you won’t soon forget. Gloria in excelsis!

“This Christmas Vespers, led by David Fallis, was an engaging blend of scholarship with honest sentiment plus all the bells and whistles that the early Baroque could muster in service of religious music. The result was nothing less than splendid, one of the best musical treats of the holiday season.”
