This is a big deal! The very first Youth Food Conference in the CRD!!! The official launch of the Youth Food Network, this event will be a celebration of connection making for all youth ages 14-24 in the Capital Region district.

This is a big deal! The very first Youth Food Conference in the CRD!!! The official launch of the Youth Food Network, this event will be a celebration of connection making for all youth ages 14-24 in the Capital Region district.

The focus is food; good food, local food, Indigenous food systems, diversity in cultural food systems, how to grow food, how we think about food, how to get involved in local food initiatives, where your food comes from, and so much more…

This event is 100% FREE! What do you get with your free ticket? 4-5 Local Based Meals (a welcome dinner, a packed lunch from Whole Foods, a breakfast with Tree Island Yogurt and Singing Bowl Granola with fresh fruit, and a house cooked lunch and maybe a bonus).

18th Annual Japanese Cultural Fair

Tastes and traditions of Japan come alive at 18th Annual Japanese Cultural Fair FREE admission Greater Victoria residents have the chance to experience the best of Japanese food, entertainment and crafts in just one day at the Victoria Nikkei Cultural Society’s 18th annual Japanese Cultural Fair Oct. 21 at the Esquimalt Recreation Centre.

“The 2017 fair is our chance to share our Omotenashi – Japanese hospitality that entertains guests wholeheartedly,” said VNCS President Tsugio Kurushima. “It’s a family-friendly fair with activities and events – and delicious food – for all ages.”

This year’s fair will again offer up a blend of new and old activities. Returning by popular demand are the sell-out bento box and sushi sales, the only-at-the-fair YYJ Dogs (hot dogs with special Japanese toppings), taiko drumming performances, and tea ceremony demonstration.

New activities this year include Haiku teaching table, a session on Japanese pop music, a look at Japanese classical theatre, and a Judo demonstration. Other cultural displays include a pottery session for youth, Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging), Koto (Japanese zither) and Kyudo (Japanese archery). The full schedule available at VNCS.ca.

For the last five years the city has been without a dedicated wine festival. The Victoria Wine Festival looks to fill this glaring omission. In September the Victoria Wine Festival will takes place showcasing some of the best international wines.

The Great Canadian Beer Festival Day 2 #yyjevents @GrCanBeerFest

The 25th annual Great Canadian Beer Festival continues today.  It may be a little damp, but this will definitely keep your mind off the clouds and on the suds  66 breweries and 2 cideries will have a booths featuring over 250 beers and ciders. Also, new this year is The Drake Eatery Cask Tent which has an additional 8 breweries serving up unique cask beer. Returning will be our local food vendors, live entertainment and more!

Award winning festival – The Great Canadian Beer Festival won Best BC Craft Beer Event in BeerMeBC’s People’s Choice Awards for 2015 and 2016.

Esquimalt Ribfest is a Family event that raises funds for local charities. Donations are distributed by Firefighters Charitable Foundation. The Ribfest Committee and the workers are volunteers who give their time to serve our community.

The Esquimalt Ribfest is about family, community, volunteers, kids, participation, and fun!
