The Great Canadian Beer Festival is proud to celebrate our 26th year!

Returning to the Royal Athletic Park in Victoria in September.

75+ breweries and cideries, food vendors, live entertainment and more!

The Great Canadian Beer Festival is a non-profit society created for the purpose of introducing consumers to new brews and to raise awareness of craft brewing in the local community and beyond. In its 26th year, the GCBF is the longest running, and one of the largest craft-only festivals in Canada.

The first GCBF was held in 1993 in the Victoria Conference Centre. The festival grew each year and by 2003 it moved to the Royal Athletic Park where over 8000 people attend the two day event.

Annual Vancouver Island Feast of Fields

Feast of Fields is a three hour wandering gourmet harvest festival that highlights the connections between farmers and chefs, fields and tables, and between farm folks and city folks. With a wine glass and linen napkin in hand, you’ll stroll across a farmers field, traveling from tent to tent (sometimes through the barn, past the tractor or around the chicken coop) listening to live music, and tasting gourmet creations from some of BC’s top chefs, bakers, food artisans, vintners, brewers, distillers and other beverage producers.

Feast of Fields are FarmFolk CityFolk’s annual local food celebrations and signature fundraising events, held each year on a different farm in the Okanagan Valley, in Metro Vancouver and on Southern Vancouver Island. Since 1994 FarmFolk CityFolk has celebrated more than 50 Feasts!

This year we are excited to return to one of our previous host farms, Kildara Farms.

As a fundraising event we also offer – for sale – branded wooden plates to heighten your feasting experience, raffle tickets for a chance to win fabulous foodie dream vacations, a silent auction filled with wonderful prizes, and, of course, we take donations, for which we provide a charitable tax receipt. So don’t forget to bring some extra cash…its for a good cause.

All of our food and beverage participants donate their product and time to Feast of Fields – for which we are very, very grateful. Funds raised at Feast of Fields support FarmFolk CityFolk’s work to cultivate local, sustainable food systems across British Columbia. For more information on how you can help us support sustainable agriculture and celebrate local food in BC please visit us at www.feastoffields.com

Dîner en Blanc Victoria

Bonjour Victoria! After our inaugural year in 2013, Le Dîner en Blanc Victoria returns this summer to celebrate our 5th Anniversary!

Join us on July 7th, 2017 for our 5th anniversary of the much anticipated Dîner en Blanc Victoria presented by Brink Events.

Diner en Blanc combines a beautiful, iconic outdoor venue with the sophistication of a gourmet picnic.

On the evening of the event, guests gather at specific departure points around the city. Guided by Dîner en Blanc volunteers, these groups will then converge on the secret location travelling on foot and by coach. Every guest brings their own table, chairs and table setting. Guests may get creative and pack their own gourmet picnic. There are also options for guests to purchase wine from the Dîner en Blanc e-store or to choose a catered option from The London Chef, returning for the 5th year to provide three catered food options.

Highlights of the evening include the waving of a cloth napkin to mark the beginning of the dinner, the lighting of the sparklers, and a disco after the event.

Tickets are based on invitations. Sign-up for the waiting list here:

About Dîner en Blanc

Launched in Paris in 1988 by François Pasquier, Dîner en Blanc has become a worldwide phenomenon celebrated on five continents. Dîner en Blanc – Paris now attracts nearly 15,000 people each year.

While the technology behind the event may have changed over the years, the principles fuelling this fantastic event have not: guests continue to gather at a secret location for the sole purpose of sharing a gourmet meal with good friends in one of their city’s most beautiful public spaces.

Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Montreal, Canada, Dîner en Blanc International is responsible for developing this secret posh picnic in over 50 cities in more than 20 countries around the world. Each event is headed by passionate local organizers who fell in love with the concept and wanted to bring it to their city, giving this rendezvous a local flair.

For the second year, locals and visitors are finding their way to the Breakwater Barge on Friday evenings for live music, local beer, cider, and wine, and food truck eats. It’s become one of the most popular events of the summer season, animating the waterfront and bringing more people down to Ogden Point. “It’s such a great way to spend your Friday night,” says Deanna Young, who created the event last year and is overseeing it in 2017. “You don’t have to cook or clean, you can enjoy delicious food and drinks, and a beautiful ocean view. And being right beside the breakwater and the cruise ships makes it a unique, one-of-a-kind venue.”
Deanna works with Michael Helm from the Breakwater Bistro, who manages food and beverage for the event, and with talent booker Morgan Brooker, who coordinates the music lineup for the season. Morgan’s goal is to appeal to all demographics, while avoiding genres such as heavy rock. This season, Barge-goers have heard local indie favourite Jesse Roper, The Band tribute musicians The Great Divide, and “west coast folkie” Jessica Benini, among others.
Breakwater Barge
The Barge sits just below the popular Ogden Point breakwater, and attracts people who come for the evening, and people who stop during a stroll to listen to a few tunes. “I have a video of people dancing on the Breakwater, and it’s beautiful,” Deanna says. “I love it when people say ‘great job, Victoria needed this,’ and seeing the people who come down for Barge nights, from 70 year olds to families with children who can come down and enjoy a night out without needing to find a babysitter.”

Food trucks on location for the evening include: Saltchuck Pie Company,Deadbeetz Food TruckDonut Delights and The Kraken by The Breakwater.
