Seattle-based R&B band The Dip features a three-piece horn section and a vintage sound that harkens back to early soul and funk influences. Their latest album, Love Direction, releases right before their appearance at BC Smoke Shop Harbour Blues ‘n Roots Festival 2024, and augments their classic sound with expanded instrumentation throughout. They’ve headlined sold-out shows at iconic venues across the country, supporting new friends like Lake Street Dive, The Teskey Brothers, and Black Pumas, while also appearing at major festivals including Bonnaroo and Outside Lands. The Dip’s next stop on their way to stardom is Victoria’s inner harbour this August!

Guitarist/vocalist Mike Farris is the definition of putting one’s soul into art. In addition to his 2015 GRAMMY win for “Best Roots Gospel Album,” Shine For All The People, Farris is an Americana and Dove Music Award winner with multiple solo recordings, including his last full length release, Silver and Stone. Farris was also the frontman of mainstream 90s rock group The Screamin’ Cheetah Wheelies. This extraordinary performer releases a new record this summer. A mix of spiritual and earthly, of gospel and country, of R&B, blues, and rock ‘n’ roll, of faith and fire, Mike Farris and The Fortunate Few return to Victoria to stun audiences once more with what Rolling Stone describes as a “supersized voice filled with the electricity of Saturday night and the godly grace of Sunday mornings.”
