PRISM to headline the 2023 Saanich Fair September

Showtime: 8:00PM

Aaron Pritchett: 8:00 PM (Saturday)

PRISM returns to Victoria in September headlining the 2023 Saanich Fair. Live Music has always been a major component of the annual fair which has seen the likes of 54-40, Kim Mitchell and more over the years. The show is FREE with admission to the fairgrounds.

Prism, the Canadian rock band that needs no introduction, emerged onto the vibrant music scene in the late 1970s and has since become an influential and beloved part of Canadian music history. Hailing from the Vancouver area, Prism brought their unique blend of melodic rock and captivating performances to audiences across the country and beyond.

Formed in 1977, Prism was initially comprised of members Bruce Fairbairn (keyboards, trumpet, saxophone), Ron Tabak (lead vocals), Lindsay Mitchell (guitar), Ab Bryant (bass), and Rocket Norton (drums). With their impressive musical skills and killer stage presence, they quickly caught the attention of both industry insiders and music enthusiasts.

Their eponymous debut album, "Prism," hit the shelves in 1977 and introduced the world to their signature sound. Filled with infectious hooks, memorable melodies, and soaring harmonies, it showcased the band's talent for crafting catchy rock anthems. The record spawned several hits, including the chart-topping single "Spaceship Superstar," which soared their popularity to new heights.
Prism went on to release a string of highly successful albums throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s. Each record showcased their ability to seamlessly blend rock with elements of pop, new wave, and progressive sounds. Albums like "Armageddon" (1979), "Young and Restless" (1980), and "Beat Street" (1983) delivered hit after hit, defining their musical prowess and solidifying their place in Canadian rock history.

However, like many bands, Prism faced lineup changes over the years. Vocalist Ron Tabak left the band in 1978, with several talented vocalists, including Henry Small and John Hall stepping in to contribute their unique voices. The band's sound evolved with each member transition, but their commitment to crafting memorable melodies and engaging live performances remained consistent.

Prism's impact on the Canadian music scene cannot be overstated. With more than 20 charting singles and several platinum-selling albums, they became one of the most successful and influential Canadian rock bands of their time. Their infectious tunes captivated audiences from coast to coast, and their energetic live shows left a lasting impression on fans.
