A Christmas Carol
by Charles Dickens
adapted by Michael Shamata
A ghost story for Christmas, the Belfry’s acclaimed production returns, along with some of the best-loved Dickensian characters of all time. A story of love, generosity and second chances, it takes us through the darkness and into the light of true joy and celebration!
Why I Chose this Play
It is simply the most powerful story that I know – for any time of the year, and it is a beautiful way to celebrate the true meaning of the holiday season. It makes people happy and reminds us that it’s not too late to become a better person; to think about others and to be grateful for the love in our lives. I have had a profound relationship with this piece for over a quarter of a century, and could happily spend as much time again in its embrace. —Michael Shamata

“4.5 stars…smart…a visual delight…if you’re going to pick just one yuletide entertainment…this one’s a solid bet.” Times Colonist
“This is the best holiday show I know, for people of any age, creed, or colour. Its message of love is universal and one that we need now more than ever.” Toronto Star
